The Different Uses For Canopy Covers

Since there is a wide diversity of uses for canopy covers, there are many companies that offer these products to suit your various needs. You can use canopy covers to protect your automobiles, provide shade for different occasions, and for camping expeditions. It is important to assess the durability of the materials you purchase to ensure that they will last for a long time. You will want to find materials that are resistant to different weather conditions, including heavy rainfall and constant sunlight. To find canopy covers for your multiple purposes, you can look up providers online that offer the highest quality materials that are guaranteed to last.

If you do not have a garage or covered area to store your car, canopy covers can be used to protect your vehicle against the elements. There are canopy covers available that are specifically designed for vehicle storage. Some are set up in a way that they provide overhead protection as well as coverings for the sides of your vehicle. You can also get simpler designs that use four poles that hold up the canopy to protect your car from sunlight and rain. All of these canopy covers are completely portable so you can protect your vehicle wherever you need to store it.

Many residents who do not have covered porches or patios use canopy covers to create a shaded area for guests and family members to sit and relax. You can set up these areas in the front or back of your property depending on where you would like to spend your time outdoors. The shade provided will keep you and your guests cool during summer months and can protect you from rain and UV rays from the sun. The portable covers are great for various events that require you to set up tents outdoors. A lot of businesses use them to provide shade for their employees when showcasing products at marketing events.

For camping enthusiasts, canopy covers are great for setting up tents and other shaded environments when you are out in the wild. There are different designs available depending on whether or not you need a sleeping tent or an open area where individuals can relax and eat. A lot of these designs are easy to set up and do not require any specialized tools to do so. You can enhance your camping experience by using multiple canopies for your different purposes.

Canopy Replacement Covers – Getting the Right Fit

No matter how good a quality your tent or home canopy is and has always been, eventually you will need to replace it with a canopy replacement cover. Canopy replacement covers are made to supplant the original cover of your outdoor tent without requiring you to buy a new cover. These kinds of covers are widely available online, although sometimes it is easiest to buy your replacement canopy cover from the original vendor who sold you your first and original canopy. Check around and comparison shop before making any final decisions.

When you are looking for a replacement canopy cover, there are some things you will want to be aware of. Of course, you want to make sure that the replacement cover that you purchase matches the size of your old tent poles. If they don’t fit, you will have a problem on your hands, so just be sure to have the measurements available when you go to purchase this new replacement cover for your canopy. Measure in the middle as well as from the sides to get the best and most accurate measurements.

You want to make sure that your canopy replacement covers are very high quality in order for them to serve their intended purpose. They are designed to last long and strong, so look for things like reinforced seams and material that is resistant not just to damp and moisture, but also to rot, mildew, acid, and abrasion. You want to make sure you don’t get wear and tear holes in any part of your replacement canopy cover. Last, pick a color that will suit your purposes, depending on whether you want the canopy to blend in or stand out.

The average life span for a canopy replacement cover is between two and four years, so if you are starting to see little tears or wear spots on your cover and you’ve had it for more than two years, it might be time to replace it. This is not something you want to wait on, as it would be disastrous to have some kind of leaking or falling down of the cover during an actual event. If you are planning to use your old party tent or car park cover during the winter, just check it carefully to make sure it is still functioning. It is better safe than sorry since tarps are easy and affordable to obtain.

Choosing A Canopy Replacement Cover

The most popular model of canopy sold in major retail stores today is the 10' x 20' Valance Style shelter. The tarp cover fabric is designed to overhang around the edges, which prevents water from entering the structure. This valance style is also more acceptable in residential neighborhoods. There is a time when replacement of the original cover is necessary and there are a few things to know before purchasing any random replacement cover.

The first thing to know before shopping for a new replacement cover is the measurement of your frame. There is no such thing as a universal replacement cover and there are currently two models on the market that have considerable differences in the frame design. Knowing your frame type will help you save both time and money by preventing an incorrect purchase. The three most important measurements are the width, height from ground to center peak and the length of the roof rafter on one side. These three measurements will give you the information need to make an informed decision.

The two different styles of frames can be distinguished by manufacturer or brand. The two most common brands sold for the 10' x 20' frame type are Shelter Logic and King Canopy. Although both considered 10' x 20' shelters, the measurements and replacement cover are completely different. We have added the images for both frame types. Before making a purchase it is very important to know what frame style you have and what canopy replacement cover is needed.

Replacement Canopy Tops: How To Measure.

Purchasing a canopy kit from your local retailer will require you to consider the replacement options at a later date. Most poly tarps sold with packaged canopy kits will last an average of 2-3 years before replacement is required. The most common problem when shopping for a replacement canopy top is the measuring process. The fact that the majority of canopy kits sold at local retail stores are of the high peak roof variety is helpful when shopping for your new carport cover. It is important to note that the frame width and length is not necessarily the replacement tarp size that is needed for your structure.

High peak canopy frames have a 120-degree rise in the roof pitch. As the roof angle increases so must the length of material to maintain the desired width. For example, on a 10’ x 20’ canopy frame with a common high peak roof, a rafter length of 5’ 8” is required on each side of the tent to maintain the 10’ width. As the rafter length increases so must the amount of material used to cover the canopy tent structure. Using the 10’ x 20’ example from above, the actual size of the replacement canopy cover would be a 12’ x 20’. The two extra feet is required to compensate for the rise in the peak.

A few important measurements can be extremely helpful when shopping for a replacement canopy top. The first and most important measurement is your canopy width and length. The second measurement is both your leg height and the height from ground to the center at the highest point of the roof rafter (usually where the roof meets at the top). The final measurement is over the peak of the canopy frame. Start from one corner fitting and measure up and over the peak to the other corner fitting. This will give you some idea of how much fabric is required to cover the peak.

Once these measurements have been taken you will be able to determine the roof style as well as, the amount of fabric needed for a replacement canopy top. It is always best to consult with a canopy and tarp specialist before making your final purchase. By using these helpful tips shopping for a replacement canopy top should be effortless.

Using Canopies For Summer Activities

The best part of summer is enjoying the great weather. The ability to relax outside with family and friends is what summer is all about. Whether it is at the beach or around a campfire, summer activities are the perfect solution for enjoyment and give us a much-needed break from our stressful lives. There are times though when the sun can become overwhelming and it is important to have an area of shade. In these instances, outdoor canopies provide great protection from the heat and sun. Made using UV protected tarp covers, a canopy offers versatility as the portable structure can easily be moved from one location to another. The canopy tarp covers can be interchanged between a solid poly material and a shade screen material. The poly tarp is made of waterproof and laminated polyethylene and not only provides great UV protection but can also provide 100% shade. The canopy shade screen material is an excellent choice for moderate temperatures and light breezes. The heavy-duty mesh material is designed to provide up to 75% shade while still allowing the refreshing summer breezes to pass through the fabric.

In addition to protecting you from the sun, canopies are ideal for protecting automobiles and recreational vehicles. Just as we are prone to sun damage so are your vehicles. The heat from the sun can fade paint and cause cracking along delicate surfaces. Protecting your valuables with a canopy structure will ensure the lifespan of your vehicle and will keep the interior cool and enjoyable. Aside from protection, using a canopy during the summer months is a great way to provide an area of shade while washing or detailing a car, truck or boat. The summer season should be relaxing and enjoyable. Be prepared this summer and utilize the many benefits that having a canopy can provide.

Canopy Replacement Covers

With every new canopy purchase there comes a time when the cover needs to be replaced. Most polyethylene canopy covers have an average lifespan of 2-4 years before replacement is needed. At CanopiesAndTarps.com we make purchasing a new canopy cover easy. Our selection of standard, valance top and valance enclosure covers are always in stock and available for immediate shipment.

All of our canopy replacement covers are made of fiber-backed poly, which is heat-sealed and then laminated. UV treatments go into each cover to ensure optimal protection for year round coverage you can count on. Rope reinforced edges and grommets line the perimeter and are spaced every 18 inches. Choose from a variety of color choices and find a canopy replacement cover that works for your specific application.

Before purchasing a new replacement cover be sure to measure your existing frame. Our tarp covers featured on this section are designed for high angled peak frames. To get an accurate measurement you will want to take three different measurements. First, measure the width of the frame from inside leg to inside leg. Second, measure the length from inside leg to inside leg. Your final measurement will be from the ground to the center highest point on the peak. For 10’ and 12’ wide, high peak canopies, you should get a center height of around 9 to10’ from ground to center peak. On the larger canopy frames, like that of the 18’ wide models, a normal center height measurement should be between 11 to 12’. After your measurements are complete and you have determined that your frame is in fact a high peak design, simply match your width and length measurements with the appropriate replacement cover.
