Using Hay Covers May Help to Reduce Storage Problems

For years, farmers have had to deal with a variety of hay storage problems. For proof of the enduring issues, one only has to look towards articles that have appeared in various farming magazines and bulletins. Storage problems often mentioned in such industry publications are spontaneous combustion, mold formation and the loss of nutritional content. The good news is that there are modern day hay storage solutions available. Investing in a series of hay covers or tarps is one of them.

Hay covers and tarps come in different types, shapes and sizes. They include the following:
Each one is designed to protect the hay from the very elements that can cause mold, spontaneous combustion and the loss of nutritional value. Examples of such elements include normal precipitation, condensation and intense sunshine.
Some of the hay covers, like the grommets-style ones, are also acid resistant. They are exceptionally nice to have in areas prone to receive acid rain. They could also feasibly be used in conjunction with hay that has been treated with preservatives.
In addition, many of our hay covers are made with thick, heavy-duty polyethylene. The heavy-duty polyethylene is designed to resist punctures and abrasions, which could allow moisture to seep into the hay bales.
Generally speaking, hay cover sizes tend to range from 8 feet x 10 feet to 72 feet x 48 feet. However, they can be customized to suit a farmer’s particular needs. Just keep in mind that farmers wishing to order custom hay covers will need to be confident in their measurements prior to placing their orders.

Want to learn more about these hay covers and other products that would be helpful to farmers? Contact us at Canopies and Tarps. We carry a wide assortment of items including tarp covers, enclosed tents, carports, canopies and portable sheds. We may be reached online or by calling (877) 811-3911.

Canvas Tarps Offer A Wide Variety Of Uses

When most people think of tarps, they automatically picture a durable, vinyl model that is specifically designed to withstand just about anything that the elements can dish out. While there is no doubt that a vinyl tarp is one of the most versatile things that a person can add to their collection of tools, vinyl is not always the best choice. For example, if a person happens to have a classic automobile stored in a garage or barn that they want to protect from potential scratches or they just want to keep the dust off, canvas tarps are probably a much better choice.

Canvas Tarps Aren't Just For Inside Use

Of course, most people choose canvas tarps because they have a very valuable and delicate item that they want to protect. This means that it is well worth taking a little bit of time to ensure that the tarp that a person is purchasing is made from a high quality, but incredibly soft material. While vinyl tarps may be the obvious choice for outdoor use, tarps made from canvas can be found that are not only UV resistant, but water resistant as well.

When it comes to choosing between the varieties of different canvas tarps that are out there, understanding the type of material that the tarp is made from will help a person make a better decision as to whether or not it represents a good investment. For example, tarps that are made from top quality cotton will provide years of reliable service and will not harm the item underneath no matter how sensitive or delicate it may be. These products also come in a wide variety of sizes, which means that there is one that is the perfect choice no matter what an individual is looking to protect.

Versatile And Useful

If a person is looking to invest in canvas tarps because they want the ultimate versatility when it comes to protecting everything from the furniture in a vacation home to a classic automobile stored during the winter months, they will not be disappointed. These types of tarps are also a perfect choice when it comes to putting together a makeshift shelter for birthday parties, family reunions, or even emergency situations. While tarps made from canvas may not be the ideal choice in every situation, individuals who invest in these affordable items often find a lot more uses for them than they ever thought possible once they see how durable, versatile, and useful they truly are.

Athletic Field Covers Help the Environment as Well as Protecting Your Sporting Event

Athletic field covers have become very popular in more recent years due to rainouts of sporting events creating far too many game cancellations. Rain can create such conditions that, without high-quality field covers, the ensuing mud and muck can postpone a game until a much later date. At Canopies and Tarps, we've designed very high-quality covers and tarps that not only help save the day in outdoor sports, but also help the environment.

Football Field Tarps

While the older days of football meant watching football players running in mud (and sometimes snow), a sudden deluge of rain no longer has to ruin the field with our quality tarps. We sell football field tarps both small and very large, even though they're easy to unfold in a manner of minutes. That's because we placed web loop handles around the tarp edges to ensure a quick unfolding procedure.

These are made to resist ultraviolet light as well, so they're environmentally friendly once the sun comes out. The polyethylene in the tarp ultimately helps prevent deterioration from the UV rays.

Baseball Field Tarps

We also have baseball covered (literally), and our tarps are made of the same materials as ones for football fields. These tarps also come in small and very large sizes that cover part or all of a baseball field when a major rainstorm comes in. Imagine going to see your kids at a Little League game and being able to see the game finish out the same day thanks to our tarps being so easily removable. If you live in rainy country, you'll appreciate having our tarps around to avoid those baseball games being rescheduled to a far-off date.

Covering Everything Else on the Field

We also cover mounds, home plates and bases on your baseball field, which can also get very muddy in a rainstorm. Our covers also cover considerable space around these areas so the immediate vicinity can stay clear of dampness. Once the game resumes, the covers essentially prevent injury, because slippery mounds, plates and bases can cause players to slip and fall.

It's Not Always About the Weather

Tarps and covers for athletic fields can go beyond protecting from rain or snow. Sometimes it's about privacy, especially during baseball practice. We also sell windscreen covers that can be conveniently set up around the borders of a playing field. This can prevent people from standing and looking in on the game. And to prevent tall gawkers from looking over the top, our covers are as high as 9 feet.

Contact us to see our full inventory of canopies and tarps for all occasions beyond sporting events. Canopies and Tarps is there for you in providing American-designed covers that are guaranteed to help protect you and your event from Mother and Human Nature.

Quick Tips for Selecting Containment/Pond Liners for Your Property

Have you been thinking about building a containment pond or water garden on your property? If so, there is a good chance that you may have a few questions about which containment/pond liners to buy. With that said, perhaps the following tips will help answer some of your questions:

Tip #1: Select the Right Type of Pond Liner

Containment/pond liners are traditionally made with a select group of materials, each with their own advantages. Among the list of assorted materials are polyvinyl chloride (PVC), polyethylene polypropylene diene monomer (EPDM), butyl rubber and high density polyethylene (HDPE). You’ll want to ideally select one that is suitable for your region’s climate and your overriding purpose.

Take our heavy duty polyethylene pond liners for example. They are non-toxic, puncture resistant, hydro-static resistance and long-lasting. They also come in different sizes. Those sizes tend to range from 30 feet wide x 20 feet long to 100 feet wide x 120 feet long. Each one is 20 Mil thick. Thus, it would be ideal for use with containment pond and water garden installations.

Tip #2: Calculate the Pond’s Dimensions Carefully

It is also important to carefully determine which size containment/pond liner is needed before you place an order. That’s because containment/pond liners tend to be custom made to the customer’s specifications. Therefore, you’ll want to get it right the first time.

In most instances, its best to measure the area’s depth, width and length twice, just to be sure. Afterward, add at least 3 to 6 inches to your figures to allow for any weather related fluctuations and shortcomings. If you are still hesitant about the size liner needed, you may want to refer to our online measuring chart.

Want to learn more about how to select the right containment/pond lining for your property? Contact us toll-free at (877) 811-3911. Our experienced staff would love to answer all of your containment/pond liner related questions.
